Definately do traditional. Designs on a resume are too cutesy and may lead them to believe you are immature.
Include a copy of some creative design work you have done along with your resume if you feel it is beneficial, but keep the two separate.

Normally I would say no, however since you are looking for a position as a web developer you will want to give a little preview towards your personality. I say as long as you keep in simple it should be ok. Or your cover letter can be on personalized stationary you design.

Generally, I would agree with Cappy.

A portfolio seems to be a more appropriate place to show your design work. I think the exception might be if you were applying to a company that exclusively provides design services and might appreciate a resume that’s a little jazzed up, but that’s a really tough call. Your safe bet is to go with traditional format.

Keep your stuff professional looking. . . Now is not the time to show your work. . . Show it when the time comes, like at the interview. . . Black and White is best although sometimes the email address may show up in another color, but that is just fine.

Good luck

i would just make it clean and professional. Perhaps just use resume paper ( harder bond paper) and make some things bold, etc but dont play with designs too much.

Hi, I’m in HR. Normally the answer is no, never.

A resume should only look conservative and professional. However, I don’t believe that’s the case in graphics or design fields. In creative fields people tend to be more accepting of that.

So I would include a little bit of it and see how it goes over. Remember though, you’ll be judged on the design work you add as well as the resume, if they are designers, so unless it looks really fabulous, I’d leave it out. Good luck.

the only time I would find it acceptable for a resume to have a design on it would be for a heavy-duty artistic position i. E. Interior design, fashion, artist, floral designer, etc.
For corporate positions, the only design I might accept is a very plain border with all print in black (no colors).
